Our Health & Safety
Health & Safety is of utmost importance to us here at SWD, with our teams often working in heavily trafficked areas, tight spaces all whilst using potentially dangerous tools. Projects are also often carried out in close proximity to the general public where heavy machinery operates. It is therefore integral to our company that Health & Safety is implemented to the highest standards at all times.
We encourage all employees to keep health & safety at the forefront of their operations. This means questioning if there is a safer way to work on sight and not proceeding if they feel there are potentially avoidable risks involved. We ask that they alert of any near misses and potential risks to head office.
All of our operatives are provided with a portable tablet that allows them to carry out risk assessments and vehicle checks via an app. Vehicle checks have to be completed before it leaves the work yard. In the event that there is a fault with a vehicle, it will not be allowed to leave until it has been fixed. Similarly, all risk assessments have to be completed on-site otherwise work cannot start or finish.
The Health & Safety of our workers and the public comes first and so we ensure that all of our crews are all skilled operatives who hold a CSCS card and are accredited to the industry standards. All staff from office to site operatives receive regular training in Health & Safety, Quality Awareness, First Aid and Traffic Management.
